Tabs, apps and a social feed
The phone layout changed many times. We added an Apps home screen with 100+ BSV apps, a Media player and a feed that reads other BSV social apps.
The tab bar kept moving
On 1 October the tabs were Wallet, Market, Apps, Media and Settings. The same day Chat got a tab and Media moved under the wallet's NFTs. Then the tabs became Wallet, Market, Apps, Feed, Chat. On 2 October Wallet moved to the centre. On 3 October Wallet moved to the left and Apps to the centre. Each change came from using the app on a phone and finding the main action in the wrong place. We do not think the order is final.
Apps
Apps started as two lists: our own bApps and "Other apps". It grew into a home screen with tiles, an iPhone-style arrange mode (hold, jiggle, drag) and pages for Home, bApps, Other apps and Games. Our own apps run inside the wallet in a frame and talk to it through the standard BRC-100 interface.
On 2 October we added 116 live BSV apps found through BSVRadar, and 12 from the Metanet app store. We removed one, a sat-burning stress tool, because it did not fit the rule we had set for the import. We also hid a "Buy BSV" group of on-ramp apps; it is parked until we decide how to handle it. Later, users could add their own apps, saved with their wallet so a restore brings them back.
One small correction: TokenBlaster was first listed as a bApp, then moved to Other apps on 5 October, because it is not one of ours.
Media
The wallet sorts inscriptions by kind and plays audio and video, with a queue. It started as a tab, then became part of NFTs, then got its own button in the top bar.
Feed
The Feed reads on-chain social posts using Bitcoin Schema (B, MAP and AIP). It also shows recent Treechat threads and Twetch posts through Twetch's public API, with a badge showing where each post came from. Posts the wallet writes itself are marked as bChat. You can lock BSV behind a post, in the style of Hodlocker, and sort by most locked. There is a leaderboard, bookmarks that sync across devices, notifications and thread views.
What broke
- On Android, Framer Motion transforms made scrolling slow, so we turned them off app-wide.
- A spacer in the identity row squeezed the Wallet tab to zero height, which left it blank. We added error boundaries so one broken insert can't blank the whole screen.
- Bottom sheets opened behind the tab bar more than once. A test now checks every sheet.
What's not done
- The feed polls; it does not stream new posts live.
- The app directory is curated by hand, and entries need checking again before each store submission.
- The Buy BSV group is hidden, not finished.
