bWalletX on iPhone

Apple only allows App Store apps on iPhone, and the App Store edition (bWallet) can’t trade. Until there’s a better route, bWalletX on iPhone is a web app: the full wallet, installed from Safari onto your Home Screen. Read where your keys are before you use it.

Open in Safari→Share→Add to Home Screen

Install it (one minute)

  1. On your iPhone, open web.bwalletx.com in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow).
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.
  4. Open bWalletX from your Home Screen, and create or restore your wallet there.

Where your keys are, honestly

On your phone, not on our servers

The web app is the same non-custodial wallet: your keys are created on the phone, encrypted with your password, and kept in the app’s own storage on the device. We never see them.

But web storage is more fragile than a real app

iPhone can clear a website’s storage. The installed Home Screen app is much safer than a Safari tab: it has its own storage, the app asks iOS to keep it, and the “7 days unused” rule only counts days you open it. It can still be lost if you delete the Home Screen icon, clear website data in Settings, or don’t open it for a long time. A Safari tab is cleared much sooner, so always use the icon.

So: it makes you back up first

Before you can receive money, the web app makes you back up. Either save an encrypted backup file (locked with your wallet password) to Files or email it to yourself, or write down your recovery phrase on paper and confirm three of the words. Keep the password with the file; with either backup you can restore the wallet in any bWallet or bWalletX, on any device. Every month it checks you still have it.

It’s still a beta: keep small amounts in it.

What’s different from Android

The same wallet

Tokens, the Exchange and Strategies, names, chat rooms, agent accounts and the b agent all work, and the same recovery phrase works in every edition.

A few phone features are limited

No Face ID unlock: you use your password. Pairing the CLI works while the app is open on screen.

Prefer the App Store?

bWallet is our App Store edition: send, receive, tokens, names and rooms, with the Market to browse. It’s coming to the App Store; join the waitlist to hear when it’s out.
