NEW TO BWALLETX?

Start here.

A site asked you to sign in or pay with bWalletX. This page explains what that means, how to get the wallet, and what to tap. It’s free.

What bWalletX is

bWalletX is a Bitcoin wallet you hold yourself. Your keys stay on your device: we can’t see your money and we can’t move it.

The same wallet also lets you into websites. Instead of making an account and a password, you press Sign in with bWalletX and your wallet proves it’s you. The site checks the proof itself.

Have bWallet from the app store?

bWallet is the store edition of the same wallet. It signs in the same way, so everything on this page applies to it too.

Get it

Pick the one that suits where you are. Each takes about a minute.

Chrome extensionFor Chrome or Brave on a computer. Sites find it straight away. AndroidDownload the app from this site. iPhoneOpen it in Safari and add it to your Home Screen. WebNothing to install. Opens in any browser tab.

On the web wallet and the Android download you can make your wallet with a passkey: Face ID, a fingerprint or your device PIN opens it.

Every option, with version numbers, is on Get bWalletX.

What the approval sheet means

Whenever a site asks your wallet for something, bWalletX shows one sheet. It names the site and says plainly what the site wants. Nothing happens until you tap Allow.

Sign in shares only your public identity key and moves no money

The site doesn’t get your email, name, $name, paymail or picture. It gets a signature from your public key, and that’s all. Nothing is spent.

Check the site’s address

The wallet shows the true address of the site that is asking, even if the site uses its own colours and logo on the sheet. If it isn’t the site you meant to use, tap Not now.

You stay in charge

If you disconnect a site, or haven’t used it for a day, its next request asks “Reconnect to …?” first.

How to sign in on a site

  1. Press “Sign in with bWalletX”It’s a gold button with the b logo. It may also say “also works with bWallet”.
  2. Your wallet is foundOn a computer with the extension, it’s found straight away. Inside the bWalletX app’s own browser, the same. Otherwise the site shows a QR code: scan it with bWalletX on your phone, or paste the link into the web wallet.
  3. If you used a QR code, match the numbersBoth screens show a 4-digit code. Check they match, then tap Connect.
  4. Read the sheet and tap AllowYou’re in. No password to remember. Sign in with the same wallet next time and the site knows it’s you again.

bWalletX is in beta: start with small amounts.

Back up and recovery

Your wallet lives on your device, so a backup is the only way back in if you lose it. Do this first.

Write down your 12 words

Your recovery phrase is 12 words. Write them on paper and keep them somewhere safe. Anyone with them can take your money.

Or save an encrypted backup file

The file is locked with your wallet password. Save it to your files or email it to yourself, and remember the password.

Restore on any device

Open bWalletX on the new device and restore with your 12 words, a private key or your backup file. Old BSV wallets work too: see Restore.

Opened your wallet with a passkey?

A passkey lives in your Apple or Google account. One saved to iCloud can’t open a wallet on an Android phone, and the other way round. Keep your 12 words or your backup file as well.

Using the Chrome extension?

Removing the extension deletes the wallet inside it. Have your 12 words written down before you remove or reinstall it.

Nobody will ask for your words

Not b, not our team, not a site you sign in to. Never type your 12 words into a website or a chat.

Help, any time

Ask b in the bWallet Help Desk

b is our assistant. Ask it anything about getting started, signing in or paying, and it will answer or pass the problem to our team. Sign in to the room with your bWalletX.
